La Guilde launches its 2023 Adventure Scholarships, sponsored by Sébastien Roubinet, winner of the 2022 Adventurer of the Year Golden Fleece at the Adventure Film Festival.
Since 1971, La Guilde has supported more than 500 adventurers in their exploration projects. You might be one of the next lucky ones to receive a scholarship, ranging from €500 to €5,000 (for a total amount of €15,000), to fulfill your dream. You have until June 21 to submit your application. Results will be announced to the applicants during the summer and the winners will be highlighted at the 32e edition of the Adventure Film Festival, from October 10 to 15, 2023.
The 2023 Adventure Scholarships are sponsored by Sébastien Roubinet, 2018 scholarship recipient, 2022 Adventurer of the Year: « Beyond the financial aspect, which is far from negligible, the Adventure Scholarships instill confidence: qualified people believe in your project. It’s very important. But above all, through La Guilde, I’ve met people who push you forward. It’s a pool of interesting personalities, whether they go on expeditions or undertake humanitarian projects, that help you progress. For me, many things materialized following such encounters, especially at the Adventure Film Festival.
Receiving the 2022 Adventurer of the Year Golden Fleece moved me greatly. It’s gratifying to know that people are receptive to what you do. And when you’re organizing expeditions, awards are important to keep going.
To aspiring scholarship recipients: first, try to fulfill your dream. It’s vital! And then stay close to La Guilde. Share as much as possible. Among the recipients, many of us are in contact. There is a kind of club forming, which is very nice.«

Great adventurers among the scholarship recipients since 1971
1994: two boys walk through the doors of La Guilde with a project in hand, to cycle around the world. The idea is beautiful, the motivation solid, and they soon become winners of the Adventure Scholarships: Sylvain Tesson et Alexandre Poussin climb on a saddle from which they will not dismount, preferring instead to climb further, a few years later, for a walk in the sky.
The previous year, Solenn Bardet discovered the Himba at the age of 18, in northern Namibia. In 2000, Marianne Chaud wandered the Himalayas to the rhythm of Buddhist festivals while Edouard Cortès reached Saigon in a 2 CV. There would be Regis Belleville launched into a Sahara caravan (2006), Clara Arnaud walking through China (2007), Volodia Petropavlovsky canoeing across Alaska (2011), the Lost in the Swell trio surfing in a lost paradise in Gabon (2016), Mathieu Tordeur reaching the South Pole solo (2018), Elliot Schonfeld following Maufrais’ footsteps in the Amazon (2018), the Desprez sisters riding through the Celestial Mountains (2019), or Stephen Rater and Boris Wilmart with their heads in the stars of the Kyrgyz sky (2021).
