Saturday, February 27, the association Apnée Solid’Air is organizing a sports and solidarity challenge: a series of immersions in Lake Annecy to raise awareness about research into rare diseases. The freediver Christophe Jobazé, president of this association and also an ambassador for Vaincre la mucoviscidose will undertake the project « Keep Breathing »: a series of static apneas in the lake (water at 5°C), 7 times for 1 minute with only one breath between each immersion.

The goal of this event? To promote breath control for those who lack it, related to the pathology of cystic fibrosis, and raise public awareness of this disease. The number 7, the number of apneas to be performed, here recalls the patients’ fight against the disease gene associated with chromosome 7.

This type of sports event highlights the importance of research and organ donation (lung transplants being the only known curative treatment to date for cystic fibrosis). If you wish to make a donation to support research, the association has opened a dedicated page, find it ici.

The challenge will be carried out in compliance with Covid-19 safety and health guidelines, with only partners and two coaches present alongside the freediver. The event will be broadcast live on the Aida France Facebook page, partner of this challenge. Join us on this page Saturday, February 27 starting at 1 PM.
