The 8th edition of the Hugycup took place in 2019 aboard the cruise yacht Miracle, in Marsa Alam, in the far south of Egypt. The results were announced this week.
The first two weeks of competition began the last week of August 2019. Diving conditions were optimal despite a large number of divers at the sites. Superb visibility, omnipresent dolphins, and a manatee made the arena for participants feel like a real playground during these first two cruises. The other two cruises took place in December.
All participants had until the end of January to submit their final selection (photos or videos). An international jury composed of seven members judged the photos. The video jury, on the other hand, was composed of four professionals.
The Hugycup festival weekend was scheduled for March 14 and 15, but the appearance of Covid-19 forced the organizers to cancel the event. The award ceremony was broadcast on YouTube on Sunday, March 15.
“Despite the setback due to the cancellation of the festival, we received many positive comments, and we did our best under the circumstances. In these uncertain times we are currently living, we have other more important priorities: ensuring that we are all safe and sound. Once the Covid-19 cloud has passed, we can look to the future” explains Danny van Belle, organizer of the contest.
The 9th edition will be held at the NAD Lembeh Resort (Sulawesi) from December 19, 2021 to January 28, 2022. Everyone will be welcome!
