La international competition « World Shootout » annually rewards the most beautiful underwater photos (submitted from January 1 to November 1 of the competition year), divided into 7 categories (macro, amateurs, wide angle, wrecks, sharks, dive destination with 5 images, and the national category where 3 photographers from the same country can team up to present 2 photos each). The most beautiful video montage created is also rewarded.
It was in 2011 that producer David Pilosof launched the first World Shootoutcontest. Every year, many divers-photographers from around the world take part in this competition, and thousands of images have already been submitted and presented.
The awards ceremony took place at the end of January during the 48th Boot in Düsseldorf, the German diving exhibition held from January 21 to 29.
