With this third generation, the Descent series, waterproof up to 200 meters, introduces an even more efficient way to transmit data underwater via its SubWave™ 2.0. Underwater communication opens limitless possibilities and will revolutionize the diving market. Based on sonar, it enhances underwater communication range and now allows tracking of up to 8 divers simultaneously. Moreover, both sizes 51mm and 43mm are now equipped with Subwave 2.0 technology allowing more people to enjoy this innovation.
The wireless air management « Buddy Tracking » allows tracking of the air level, bottle air time, air consumption (SAC), as well as the battery level of the Descent T2 probe. It is possible to track up to 8 pressure probes within a 40 m range with data updates every 5 seconds. Visual, sound, and vibrating alerts are triggered when the air level is low. Surface communication is done via ANT+ technology and Subwave™ sonar once the diver is submerged. With Diver2Diver messaging, divers can send predefined messages to other divers, up to 40 m when used with the T2 + Mk3i probe.
A new design
The integration of a AMOLED touch screen guarantees good readability underwater, regardless of the device’s screen size. Two formats are available in the « i » version, 51mm and 43mm. A powerful LED torch (only on the 51mm version) is integrated into the watch. The Mk3 is waterproof up to 200 m depth (20 ATM – EN 13339) thanks to a more robust casing and button design!

The global DiveView bathymetric map, a preloaded global dive map, includes bathymetry as well as dive spots. This transparent map layer will be overlaid on TopoActive maps. DiveView maps include marine parks and sanctuary boundaries. Bathymetric maps provide a view of the depth of an underwater area, including oceans, lakes, and seas.

Always effective diving functions
As with previous models, the dive mode is automatically activated as soon as the device is
immersed in 1.5 m of water for more than 5 seconds. Backlight brightness is automatically adjusted based on dive depth for better readability in all conditions. Screen scrolling is simple, even with thick diving gloves, by pressing buttons or double-tapping on the screen.
Pre-dive planning from the watch allows saving a detailed dive plan directly on the device using a simple user interface. It is possible to customize water type, timing, types and gas mixture, stops… and also modify details such as tab interface, alerts, and backlighting for an optimal diving experience, as well as planning and recording decompression plans on the watch for future dives.
6 dive modes are offered: Single Gas – for the recreational diver – Multigas (Trimix ou Nitrox) for the most advanced technical dives – CCR for closed-circuit diving – Depth gauge, without dive planning, only for depth tracking – Apnea, with recording of the number of dives and surface return timing – Spearfishing in apnea with specific setup for hunting.
For spearfishing, disabling sound and vibrating alerts and the possibility of setting custom alerts for depth and time in this mode. Display data is slightly different (removal of ascent/descent rate) for simplified display.
The computer marks the water entry and exit points thanks to the surface GPS. This allows access to position in case of emergency and to view all dives on a map background, once the activity is transferred to the Garmin Dive app.
