Until September 30, 2016, the 13th edition of the Photo Festival of La Gacilly welcomed its first visitors in early June. Attracting more than 300,000 visitors each year, this festival has become, over time, the largest outdoor photo festival in France. Indeed, for the occasion, the entire Morbihan village, its gardens, streets, and the walls of its buildings are transformed into a huge open-air art gallery.

This year, in addition to paying tribute to Japanese photography, the focus is on the theme of the oceans, with several exhibitions highlighting the threats facing two-thirds of the planet:
– A companion of Greenpeace for nearly thirty years, Pierre Gleizes has followed numerous overfishing campaigns: his powerful images speak louder than any speech!
– Photographer Daniel Beltra went to the Gulf of Mexico: he brought back a terrifying report on oil spills caused by tanker passage or incidents on oil platforms.
– For the prestigious magazine National Geographic, which the festival of La Gacilly honors each year, the Canadian Paul Nicklen has specialized in this living and cold world. His breathtaking shots of sea leopards, penguins, or polar bears are of a biodiversity now threatened.
