Twenty-eight years after its creation by Jack Passe, the Mayotte Underwater Image Festival presents its 2023 edition!
Created to raise awareness among the Mahorais about the richness and beauty of the Seahorse Island lagoon, the Festival offers an annual underwater photo and video contest as well as a drawing contest for children.

Nicolas Barraqué, underwater photographer, publication director of Dive! and who shares the festival’s values, will be the president of the jury for this 28th edition. Again this year, photographers from around the world can send their photos and videos for the contest. A new category is introduced: images captured in the Mayotte lagoon will be highlighted.
Raising awareness and understanding of the marine environment are the goals of this festival. Therefore, nearly 1500 Mahorais students discover the beauty of the depths surrounding the island during this event. The 30 children who win the drawing contest will be offered a dive with the Jardin Mahorais center, in the south of the island.
During the festival, screenings of the awarded videos will be organized in Mamoudzou as well as in Chirongui.
