In 2010, at the age of 20, I started diving while beginning my career as a video editor. This blend of passions quickly evolved, pushing me to want to spend every day underwater. During a screening in Paris, I met René Heuzey, an expert in underwater video, and decided to train alongside him for six weeks.

July 7: First dive
“First dive with a housing. We leave from the port of Pointe Rouge, in Marseille, heading towards the Frioul islands. The sky is cloudy, and a light breeze creates a slight swell. On board the boat, René is our captain, Thibault supervises the surface safety, and Camille and I are the two trainees of the day.
We are the first to enter the water, with a focus on managing our buoyancy, an often-neglected but essential step. After a few adjustments, I manage to stand upright in the water, floating in the void without changing depth.
It’s time to take action! We take the housings and set off in search of images. Visibility isn’t ideal. René spots an anemone and signals me to film it. It’s my first underwater recording! I have to find the right angle, adjust the camera, and stabilize the image. With my breathing, I’m moving a lot… Then, René discovers a pen shell, an impressive sight that I also capture.”
Re-reading these lines, I am overwhelmed with emotion thinking about my first underwater images.
