Anne-Cécile Monnier, a hydrobiologist, has dedicated her life to the study and protection of our watercourses. Fascinated by the often unknown richness of this ecosystem, she uses her images, films, and book to reveal its fragile beauty, threatened by climate changes.

Hydrobiologist: A Career in the Service of Water
As an independent hydrobiologist, Anne-Cécile studies aquatic fauna, including fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and amphibians. Her assignments, commissioned by study offices or communities, are varied:
- Impact Studies: Evaluation of the consequences of development projects on watercourses, inventory of species and habitats.
- Annual Monitoring: Observation of the evolution of populations after the construction of developments.
- Various Sponsors: The French Biodiversity Office (OFB) or transport companies concerned about the impact of their infrastructures.
For monitoring, Anne-Cécile uses a gentle « electrofishing » method: a low current guides the fish towards a capture area, where they are counted, identified, measured, and then released unharmed.
