The first edition of the Var Underwater Photography Meeting took place during the first weekend of September. Discover the winners.
Historically, there was on one side the Var Cup, organized by the photo-video commission of the FFESSM’s Var departmental committee and on the other, on the first Saturday of September, the photo challenge of the Six-Fours diving club (CPSF).
For the past 3 years, the Var Cup has not been able to be held, and this year, the Six-Fours photo challenge could not be maintained on this date. It was therefore decided to create a new competition. Thus, the Var Underwater Photography Meetings were born, from the merger of these two events, organized by the departmental committee with Jacques Dubly, former chairman of the CPSF, acting as commissioner of the competition.
These two events shared the same philosophy with a voluntary approach of not enrolling in the national championship so that each photographer could come for pleasure without pressure. Thus, beginners and big names in underwater photography mingle, with this year among others, the world champion couple and a beginner photographer diver of only 14 years!
Hosted by Sun Plongée, the competition took place on the edge of the Port-Cros National Park, near Île du Levant.
