Bahamas Tourist Office – press releaseThe Bahamas mourn the damage caused by Hurricane Dorian on two of the northernmost islands of the archipelago, Grand Bahama Island and the Abacos, but fortunately the rest of the main islands frequented by divers, 14 destinations out of the 16 that the country has, were not affected by the cyclone. The islands of the Bahamas form an archipelago of more than 700 islands and 2300 cays spread over 1200 kilometers from north to south, and the hurricane passed at the very north of the archipelago.

It is therefore entirely possible to visit these islands’ warm waters this winter, if only to support the country’s recovery and the reconstruction of the two affected destinations. From Bimini to Nassau/Paradise Island, from the Exumas to Inagua, from Andros to San Salvador, the warm and friendly Bahamians, the hoteliers, and dive centers are ready to welcome travelers with open arms for the upcoming season.

« Maintaining a strong tourism industry is vital to help the country recover and rebuild« , stated Dionisio D’Aguilar, Minister of Tourism and Aviation of the Bahamas. « We are deeply grateful for the support and love shown to us, and we would like everyone to know that the most beautiful thing they can do for us right now is to visit Nassau-Paradise Island and the Out Islands. Our beautiful island nation is ready to welcome you« , he adds.
