Following the broadcast in 2016 of the documentary Papua – Expedition to the Heart of a Lost World – which followed a Franco-Indonesian scientific expedition – discover Arte’s new programming on June 4 and 5: Papua, a Last Eden. Complementary to the previous film, this two-part documentary (the aquatic world and the terrestrial world), directed by Christine Tournadre, presents the post-expedition research.

Indeed, during this scientific adventure in the Lengguru massif, West Papua, and after diving under sometimes difficult conditions, the researchers brought back to the laboratory and studied the samples collected on site. These are used to better understand the evolution of life, in a part of the world rich with many previously unknown species: strange starfish and crinoid specimens underwater or forest kangaroos and dodo family birds on land… Follow, in this documentary, the scientist leading this expedition, Laurent Pouyaud, and all the researchers involved in this adventure. In a quest around the world, they try to uncover the secrets of this sanctuary of life and the mysterious species discovered on site.Papua, a Last Eden – The Aquatic World, on June 4 at 19:00 on Arte.Papua, a Last Eden – The Terrestrial World, on June 5 at 19:00 on Arte.
