SNCF, through its subsidiary Trains Expo Evénements, is putting the « Train des Outremer » on the tracks. An opportunity for Tahiti and its islands to share Polynesian culture, history, and heritage. 8 other Overseas Territories are also featured in this train, inviting you to dream of future vacations and dives: Wallis and Futuna – New Caledonia – Île de la Réunion – Mayotte – the French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Guadeloupe – Martinique – French Guiana.
This exhibition train, bringing a bit of exoticism to the midst of the metropolitan winter, follows a route through 12 stopover cities in metropolitan France (from Lille on December 6 to Brest on December 18, passing through Marseille and Toulouse among others) and is aimed at all audiences including schoolchildren. A program of activities, conferences, debates, and screenings is organized in each stopover city to highlight the local specificities of each Overseas Territory. For Tahiti and its islandsEveryone will be able to discover at one or another stop the Polynesian cultures and traditions that so characterize the Polynesian Mana, this vital energy, this force that surrounds us and unites all things. Tahitian dances performed by a group of Polynesian dancers are part of the show, as are Polynesian songs.
