Garmin unveils today the dive computers Descent Mk2 et Descent Mk2i as well as the Descent T1 pressure sensor. Coupled with the Descent Mk2i dive computer, via Garmin SubWaveTM technology, the Descent T1 pressure sensor provides the diver with data related to the air level in their tank. The new sonar communication system, SubWave, offers extended signal range and greater reliability compared to traditional air management systems. The Descent Mk2 and Descent Mk2i offer all the features of a connected multisport watch with a display 36% larger than the Mk1 version, customizable data, a robust dive-friendly design, with enhanced water resistance thanks to innovative inductive pulse buttons.
The Descent Mk2 series supports multiple dive modes: single or multi-gas (including nitrox, trimix, and 100% O2), depth gauge, apnea, spearfishing, and closed-circuit rebreather. The watches, equipped with a 3-axis underwater compass, display depth, duration, temperature, no-decompression limit/time to surface, ascent/descent rate, gas mix, PPO2, nitrogen saturation level, decompression/safety stops, current time… All data appears on a 3.5 cm anti-reflective color screen.
The Descent Mk2i dive computer allows simultaneous monitoring – via the SubWave sonar communication system – of data transmitted by 5 Descent T1 pressure sensors. Divers can thus view the pressure in their tank, the autonomy of the sensor, and the air consumption rate, while also monitoring that of other divers or additional tanks within a radius of 10 meters, ideal for any dive instructor or guide who wants to easily monitor their group’s air consumption underwater.
With the free Garmin Dive app, dives are automatically recorded to provide detailed analysis of each activity, including maximum depth, time spent underwater, and a map of entry and exit points in the water. The ‘Exploration’ feature allows discovering more than 2,700 dive sites worldwide. Furthermore, the watches themselves are already preloaded with data listing hundreds of sites. Divers will thus find the best places to explore by consulting the location of wrecks and reefs, as well as tide schedules. Used together with a Garmin inReach satellite communication device, the Descent Mk2 and Mk2i allow sending and receiving quick messages on the surface, or even launching an interactive SOS in case of emergency.
Equipped with a rechargeable internal Lithium-ion battery, the Descent Mk2 and Descent Mk2i have an autonomy of up to 16 days in smartwatch mode, and up to 80 hours in dive mode. When used with a Descent T1 pressure sensor, the Descent Mk2i has an autonomy of up to 32 hours. The Descent T1 pressure sensor has an autonomy of up to 110 hours of diving.recommended retail price: Descent Mk2 stainless steel 1,299.99€, titanium version 1,499.99€, Descent T1 pressure sensor 399.99€.
