The Farne Islands Archipelago, England: A Sanctuary for Grey Seals

The United Kingdom, a true « Kingdom of Grey Seals, » is home to half of their world population. The Farne Islands, in northeastern England near Scotland, offer unforgettable encounters.

  • Seahouse: Starting point to the archipelago.
  • Biodiversity: Seabirds, including puffins.
  • Natural Reserve: Only 3 islands accessible out of about twenty to preserve wildlife.

For divers, tranquility is essential, both above and below the water. Upon arrival, the seals appear, initially shy, then curious. The water, at a maximum of 12°C, requires a dry or semi-dry suit. Approaching seals should be gradual and calm.
