Learn to dive like the pioneers
The festival is an opportunity to discover Catalonia’s history as a pioneer in underwater activities, as well as to learn to dive as the pioneers did and to relive the best underwater cinema scenes of all time.
This year, among other activities, the legendary film The Big Blue will be highlighted, with a simultaneous exhibition of advertising posters used in different countries around the world, as well as an exhibition of the original cameras that captured its images and photos during filming.Christian Petron, the film’s photography director, will be present at a round table where he will share explanations, details, and anecdotes experienced during the filming.
In tribute to Dr. Ernest Adler, a scientist and pioneer, a Trophy for underwater images taken with vintage cameras, i.e., from the pre-digital era, is organized for the third year. On this occasion, the prize for the best image in the Photo Sub competition organized by the Sports Club of the Mossos d’Esquadra will be awarded. A Recognition Ceremony of the PIONEERS of Underwater Activities in Catalonia will also take place throughout the day. They will be responsible for opening and inaugurating all the afternoon activities at the Municipal Theater of Lloret.
