The mention of the Marquesas, this archipelago located more than 3.5 hours by flight north of Tahiti, is still rare among divers. However, since 2018, a diving center has opened its doors on the island of Hiva Oa and offers to show you the unsuspected wonders of the Marquesan seabeds.
With its immense protected and preserved lagoon, its endless coral barrier populated by numerous species, and its pleasant climate throughout the year, New Caledonia is considered by many divers as a true underwater paradise.
The area of Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Tamariu, Begur, and Aiguablava is characterized by rocky seabeds, with dives on drop-offs or rocky peaks. Among the twenty or so sites in the area, the most iconic are Ullastre I, II, and III.
L’Estartit is the gateway to the Medes Islands archipelago, a protected area consisting of 7 islets located just one nautical mile from the village. Sometimes a victim of its own success, it’s nevertheless a successful transformation for the small fishing port.
Since 1998, a natural park, both terrestrial and marine, extends from Rosas to Cape of Creus. The iconic dive site of the place is Maça d’Oros, exceptional at all times of the year. It has a particular charm: you encounter all species there, in a place that is still relatively uncrowded.
