Like many lovers of the sea, Hélène Adam wanted to share her passion for scuba diving by creating her own blog: Different Dive. This project, which started almost as a simple logbook, quickly became a true platform for thousands of readers to exchange ideas. Now a full-time blogger, Hélène now combines advice, reflections, experience narratives, and writing novels, as well as a practical book on diving.

An unexpected first encounter with diving
Hélène Adam recounts that her discovery of diving happened unexpectedly: « It was in a restaurant by a quarry, in Belgium. I saw people diving into dark water, which seemed very impressive to me, almost frightening. Attracted by thrills, I had to try! Although I was already familiar with the aquatic environment, diving offered me a completely different perspective: discovering what lies beneath the surface, something I had never been tempted by before. »
At the time, Hélène had not grown up with images of Cousteau – « it’s not my generation, and he wasn’t as popular in Belgium as in France. » For her, diving was thus a leap into the unknown.
The significant memory of the first immersion
Hélène’s first dive in natural waters remains etched in her memory: in February, in water just 4°C, and with brand new equipment. « After months of pool training, I was eager. Yet, as soon as I put my head underwater, I stirred up the sediment, it was cold, I couldn’t see anything… I wanted to stop immediately! But my instructor reassured me, and I persisted. » Today, she has been diving for eleven years, whether every week in quarries or during trips to the world’s seas.
