The environmental engineering company Andromeda Oceanology launches the premium version of DONIA®, its mobile application allowing environmentally friendly anchoring during your trips in the Mediterranean.A regulation regarding anchoring and the protection of Posidonia meadows in the Mediterranean was established last June: « The anchoring of vessels must not harm conservation, nor lead to the destruction, alteration of habitats of protected marine plant species. It is forbidden to anchor in an area that constitutes a habitat for protected marine plant species when this action is likely to harm it ». Andromeda Oceanology continues its momentum by releasing a premium version of its application DONIA®, to indicate anchoring sites that are compliant with law and the environment.
The free version of DONIA® allows you to download your navigation area before you leave: the application informs you about the regulations applicable in this area, provides you with maps indicating the nature of the seabed, and helps you anchor responsibly and safely. Fishermen are also informed about the current legislation in the surrounding areas.
As for the Premium version, it offers the ability to download HD bathymetric maps as well as SHOM maps (Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy). Additionally, it allows you to view AIS data (Automatic Identification System) and activate navigation alarms to prevent any drifting, entanglement, or collision. The application thus offers more safety at sea.

A useful application for diving
Andromeda Oceanology also thought of divers, by listing a number of dive spots on the Mediterranean coast. You can thus venture out on your underwater expeditions safely and knowing where you can anchor without risking damaging fragile ecosystems such as the Posidonia meadows, endemic to the Mediterranean. A must-have for all sea users navigating near the coasts.
Furthermore, DONIA® is a community application, so you can share information, observations, and photographs with other users. It can thus be likened to a social network for sea lovers allowing the exchange of tips and advice. A must for those who want a useful and fun application about navigation.
Available on the App Store ou Google Play, the application is free. The more complete Premium version is offered for €34.99.
