Couv2This exhibition is taken from the book A Look at the Mediterranean. CDesigned in the form of an abecedary, it does not aim to be a dictionary of all Mediterranean marine species. It tries, through a necessarily subjective choice of words, those that spontaneously came to mind, to answer a simple question: « What does the Mediterranean mean to you? » From the blenny to small-scale fishing, from the bream to the salema through the posidonia seagrass beds, the richness of Mare Nostrum is immense. It is sometimes little known: nudibranchs with flamboyant colors yet so difficult to observe, symbiotic relationships between the creatures inhabiting the ecosystem, or mimetic animals that hide from view are all ever-renewed discoveries. Its fragility is real, the dangers it faces are multiple: pollution, climate change, and other human impacts on nature. But the Mediterranean has an astonishing capacity for resilience, it faces challenges and can regenerate as long as we remain vigilant and active in the ecological sense of the term. Discovering to better understand, understanding to better protect, that is the aim of this picture book.
