On June 28 and 29, the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer once again hosted the French free-diving open water championship. Discover the podiums of the different disciplines!
The French athletes made impressive descents into the blue, and some familiar faces were back on the podiums. There were 42 divers participating in this competition, both French and foreign, divided into 4 disciplines: constant weight with monofin, constant weight bi-fins, constant weight without fins, and free immersion (pulling on the cable during descent and ascent).
Nothing could disturb the high-level athletes during these immersions, except perhaps the weather… “Perfectly organized and safely managed by the National Apnea Commission of the FFESSM with the help of the Villefranche-sur-Mer municipality and the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council, the competition was nevertheless slightly disrupted on the 2nd day by weather conditions, which led to its halt one hour before the scheduled end.” said Jean Lou Ferretti, General Secretary of the FFESSM.
This competition was organized by the FFESSM, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the CMAS.
