The traveling exhibition Sanctuary Pelagos, presented by the association We are Méditerranée, highlights the pelagic fauna of the Great Blue through photographs by Nice-based photographer Greg Lecœur. The inauguration will take place this Friday, September 27, 2024, on the Promenade des Anglais.
Since early September, this exhibition has been set up on the Promenade des Anglais, opposite the Palais de la Méditerranée. The photos were taken during the Pelagos expeditions, a naturalist and scientific project led by the association We are Méditerranée. This adventure aimed, among other things, to showcase the many pelagic species living in the heart of the Pelagos sanctuary.

The Pelagos sanctuary, covering 87,500 km², is the largest protected area in the Mediterranean. Born of an international agreement between France, Italy, and Monaco, its main mission is to ensure the preservation of marine mammals and their ecosystems. Although founded in 1999, it remains little known to the general public. Yet, it is essential to raise more awareness of its existence to better protect the exceptional richness of its biodiversity, located just a few steps from our shores. That is precisely the goal of these images!
This exhibition is for all nature lovers. It is an artistic celebration highlighting the richness and beauty of the Mediterranean marine heritage. Join us this Friday, September 27 for its inauguration, during a morning dedicated to art and nature.
