Divers now have their podcast! Since the beginning of 2021, a 30-year-old enthusiast has been giving a voice to professional or experienced divers in her audio interviews. Lend an ear and discover ‘La tête en mer.’

Only two years after completing her very first dive at Koh Tao in Thailand and her Advanced Open Water PADI now in hand, Audrey Plissonneau has already explored the depths of Croatia, Greece, the Canary Islands, and France. But this enthusiast of the underwater world, like all of us, found herself confined at home during the pandemic, and the idea of creating a podcast then sprouted in her mind: « I wanted to make people dream and take them « la tête en mer » by letting them listen to inspiring stories« , explains the young woman, originally from Vannes.

By thus giving a voice to actors of the underwater world, she discovers an infinity of subjects to address and just as many exciting journeys and speeches from divers, the first witnesses of this ‘hidden’ nature beneath the surface. « When we ask them about their passion, the guests open up and share a lot, confides Audrey. Ils are extremely happy to share their experiences, their knowledge, it’s wonderful! The fact that they « give » so much during our interviews pushes me to make them known and to give divers the visibility they deserve ».

An innovative format

As for the format of these interviews, the podcast was obvious to Audrey. She herself is an avid consumer of these audio shows:  » It’s an innovative format that I look for to learn about topics or people I appreciate, adds the Breton. Podcasts are extremely popular today among 25-35-year-olds, an audience I would like to seduce and further raise awareness of diving« .

Each episode offers you a 30 to 45-minute immersion into the life of an ocean lover who speaks about their journey, specialty, or a specific theme. Divers being the privileged witnesses of the underwater world, the emphasis is also on the changes experienced by the environment: « The idea is not to be moralizing, explains Audrey, but to relate observations and to raise awareness among as many people as possible about what’s happening beneath the surface« .

To date, 9 interviews are available on listening platforms (Spotify, Deezer, Google Podcast, Apple podcast…) and a tenth is already on the verge of release, at the rate of one podcast per month:

– Marine – Perspective of a female diving guide.
– Raf – A diver for marine conservation.
– Emeryc – His profession as a diver and his testimony about marine life.
– Pierre – Spearfishing and his commitment to protecting marine environments.
– Vetea – From the army to diving, a Tahitian’s love for the Mediterranean and his life as a diving center manager.
– Anne – Cruise and safari director, caving guide, and macro specialist.
– Arnaud – From philosophy teacher to diving instructor on a yacht.
– Franck – Navy diver, underwater works conductor, apnea instructor in the Canary Islands, and founder of the association “Children of the Ocean”.

The growing notoriety of ‘la tête en mer’ and the positive feedback from its listeners – passionate divers or non-divers discovering an intriguing environment and inspiring stories – as well as the enthusiasm of her guests motivate Audrey to continue this great adventure: « The list of actors of the underwater world I want to interview keeps growing. These interviews allow me to have privileged moments with extraordinary people!«
