Cavalaire-sur-Mer once again celebrates the sea this year from September 13 to 15 with the Passion Méditerranée festival.
It’s the second edition of this event that places the sea at the heart of a great weekend of activities: exhibitions, conferences, screenings, sea and land activities, a music contest… The sponsor of this second edition is bassist and composer Éric Serra, who will give a concert after the announcement of the music contest winners.
Exhibitions, screenings, and conferences dedicated to the Big Blue
The Maison de la Mer hosts several exhibitions open to the public throughout the festival:
- « Tell us about the Mediterranean » : excerpts from a comic strip by Franck Girelli.
- « Biodiversity on rocks and wrecks at Cavalaire-sur-Mer » : photo exhibition by Aldo Ferrucci.
- Exhibition of cameras, international posters, and behind-the-scenes photos of the film The Big Blue.

FRIDAY
3 p.m.: The dietary ecology of cetaceans in the Pelagos sanctuary – conference by Adrien Gannier and the Marine Spaces service.
4:30 p.m.: The coraligenous of the Mediterranean – conference by Dr. Philippe Clédon.
SATURDAY
3 p.m.: The profession of a diver – conference by Géraldine Parodi.
4 p.m.: Screening of the film Generation Big Blue – followed by a discussion with Claude Chapuis on modern freediving.
SUNDAY
3 p.m.: History of diving – conference by Pierre-Yves Le Marec.
4 p.m.: The history of underwater imaging – conference by Christian Pétron and Andrés Claros.
5 p.m.: Louis Boutan or the inventor of underwater photography – conference by François Brun.
Activities and events at sea and on land to discover the Mediterranean
Numerous stands will be present at the heart of the Maison de la Mer to let you discover the wonders of the Big Blue, with a brand village (Aqua Lung, Beuchat, Captain Neo, Mon Miracle…), activities for the whole family, virtual reality animations (diving on the Rubis, discovering the seabed…), awareness workshops with the Shark Education Club, the Marine Protected Area of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the Ocean Academy, a giant kite exhibition on the city’s beaches, and a yoga masterclass!
Several outdoor activities are also organized within the framework of the festival:
Open regattas and initiations – Catamaran and dinghy raid, kayak and paddle races, demonstrations and equipment tests, wing foil, catamaran foil, presentations of new slides, throughout the festival. Yacht Club of Cavalaire, downtown beach.
Promenade of the wild headlands – With Vedettes Iles d’Or and the Corsaire, on September 15 at 2:45 p.m. Reservation at the counter or on the site www.vedettesilesdor.fr. Adults €21, children €18.30.
Visit of the creeks – With Fiou Pelan for a duration of one hour, Friday at 4:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Reservation at 06 84 78 91 05. Adults €13, children up to 12 years old €8.
Scuba diving baptisms – By Tiki Dive and the FFESSM Codep83 on September 14 and 15. Handisub from 10 a.m. to noon, open to the public from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations at the Tourist Office, info at 06 73 24 16 55. From 8 years old, medical certificate required in case of disability.
Visit of the Bonporteau marine path – With the services of Marine Spaces. Up to 16 people per session for the guided tour of the marine path. Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. Reservation on the site www.amusezvous.net. Adults €11, children 8 to 17 years old €8, mandatory accompanying person up to 14 years old. Possibility to rent fins-masks-snorkels.

A music contest and concerts
As in the previous edition, the festival offers you two musical evenings during The Sea in Music with its underwater music contest, sponsored this year by composer Éric Serra. The Esplanade Sainte-Hélène will host Friday evening, at 8 p.m., the presentation of the 5 nominees followed by a concert by Bernard Abeille and Luc Baiwir, « From Star to Star ». Join us on Saturday, same place, same time, to discover the award ceremony of the contest as well as a concert by Éric Serra and the RXRA Group dedicated to film music. The evening will close with a pyrotechnic show.
