Between Parisian life and the sharks of South Africa, Morgane Petit made a bold choice. Enchanted during her first trip in 2015, she decided to leave everything behind to become a dive guide in what she considers her adopted country. Today, she runs her own travel agency, FIT TRIP Travel, to introduce others to the aquatic and terrestrial wonders of South Africa.

What made you swap your heels for fins in South Africa?
Before settling in South Africa, I had several enriching professional experiences. I worked for Club Med, which allowed me to explore many countries. After that, I chose a more conventional life in the Paris region, where I’m from, and where I climbed the ranks to become operations director in a hospitality agency near Place Vendôme. Although my financial situation was stable, I didn’t feel completely fulfilled. In 2015, I decided to go alone to learn surfing in South Africa. My trip to KwaZulu-Natal, where I now reside, introduced me to incredible nature reserves and my first dives at Aliwal Shoal Reef, near Durban. Surrounded by sharks, I literally fell in love with the country and these fascinating marine creatures.
