The ANMP, a union to make the voice of state-certified professionals heard and promote the profession of diving instructor; a professional organization to work effectively and autonomously.

Following the establishment of state diplomas in diving, the ANMP was founded with its Sea Guides in 1972.

Since its inception, the ANMP has been involved in all matters defining the regulatory framework of diving and ensuring the protection of professional users or practitioners.

It has been affiliated with 2 trade unions: UNSA and more recently, CFDT. This affiliation grants it the status of a representative union for the profession, both for employees and independents.

To perfect this role of defending professionals, the ANMP participated in the creation of APSO – Association of Outdoor Sports Professionals in 2014. This organization brings together outdoor professionals on common issues. This grouping facilitates negotiations with public authorities and our partners (such as insurers), pooling resources, and developing shared tools.

In addition to these political actions, for 50 years the ANMP has offered services meeting the needs of diving professionals – notably a training program since 1994.

The original values of the Sea Guides and climate urgency have pushed the ANMP to develop partnerships in recent years with marine environment protection associations such as Longitude 181 and an Ocean of Life.

The members

The diving qualifications of the French Diving School delivered by ANMP members are recognized worldwide. However, since ANMP is a professional union, only guides authorized to practice as sports educators in the diving field on French territory can join. Thus, only those with a French state diploma (professional certificate, state diploma or higher state diploma) or who have obtained a qualification recognition issued by the Ministry of Sports can become members of the ANMP and benefit from all the services it offers.

Missions of the ANMP

The ANMP is a union and a group of professionals. Its status as a Union (law 1881) gives it an essential role as a defender and spokesperson of professionals with various interlocutors from public authorities to administrations and other public or private partners.

National policies for the protection of workers and/or their working environments are undertaken by the National Council (currently consisting of 24 advisors), led by the National Office (7 people) and its Secretary-General.

More local issues can also be addressed by the ANMP through its Local Correspondents spread throughout mainland and overseas France.

Beyond a purely syndical mission, the ANMP also offers essential services for the professional practice of its members.

Without providing an exhaustive list, it includes, for example, a professional insurance service: professional liability that includes client coverage, individual accident pro and clients, daily allowances, equipment, etc.

The ANMP has a job board, open to everyone, non-member professionals included, which allows to propose or find job requests and offers, whether salaried or not.

In parallel, the network of Sea Guides facilitates exchanges, partnerships, and mutual assistance among professionals.

The ANMP, its French Diving School, and its shop offer a significant range of certifications, with its numerous diver qualification cards and specialties.

Training guides and dive logs (adults and children) are also offered. A digital version of these tools in the form of a native EPF application is in development.

Moreover, partnerships with manufacturers are regularly signed and special promotional offers for professionals are accessible to ANMP members for the purchase of diving equipment, textile products (quarter jacket/sweatshirt/T-shirt/caps/beanie) up to the professional diving stamp or logbook.

Prospects

Despite the extraordinary situation experienced since the beginning of this term, 3 main work axes predominate within the ANMP:

– Policy:

. Participate with F3C and Union (federation and body of the CFDT) in developing proposals for measures in favor of social protection for salaried or independent workers.

. Develop discussions concerning the initial and continuing training of professionals and propose, for the latter, a diversified offer through IPSAN – Institute Professional Sports and Nature Activities, an organization developed by APSO.

– On ANMP offers

Development of new specialties in the field of Tech, Freediving, and Well-being. The latter theme joins that of the public sport-health policy supported by the Ministry of Sports

– For the protection of the natural and marine environment in particular.

Development and highlighting of one of the original values of the Sea Guides (all sign the Guides’ charter and respect their code of ethics) which is eco-responsibility.

To do this, the ANMP will continue its commitment to various marine environment protection programs (PMAP and French Biodiversity Office), enrich its relationships with its partners UN Ocean Of Life and Longitude 181, and facilitate the implementation and promotion of local environment protection actions.

In parallel, it is planning the implementation of awareness actions by diving professionals to young audiences (from kindergarten to high school) in partnership with the National Education.
