On May 10, 11, and 12, the French Underwater Sports Championships took place in Limoges, organized by the French Federation of Studies and Underwater Sports.
In the notable events of this championship, let’s highlight the new French record by Frédérique Cordier in dynamic without fins. She also finished 2nd in bi-fins, just behind Magalie Siterre’s incredible 200 meters, both outperforming the men.
Among the women, we note the arrival of promising athletes such as the young Joanna Bourrien (who was in the Youth Potential training camp last year) and Catherine Glon in static, who made an entry at the highest level surpassing 7 minutes. Florie Vidberg, Magalie Siterre, and Sylvie Gilson were all crowned French champions in their preferred disciplines.
Among the men, Olivier Elu and Guillaume Bourdila dominated the podiums in dynamic with monofin and without fins and we can note the remarkable performances of Romain Hinfray and Mathieu Renard. In static, the level is very high with the Vice World Champion Éric Marchal confirming his status by being crowned 2019 French champion ahead of Laurent de Beaucaron, who also performed well. In 16x50m, the atmosphere was incredible with a podium celebrating the reigning French champion once again in gold, Laurent Breidenbach, followed by the young Jonathan Garanli and Michaël Schaedelin.
The French pool team 2019 should be announced by the end of the week.
