Du August 23 to September 20, 2021, discover, on the billboards of the CCI (Chamber of Commerce and Industry) of Marseille, at the foot of La Canebière, the superb exhibition « Regards sur la Méditerranée ».
The panels present, in giant format, some of the pages from the book Regards sur la Méditerranée. Designed in the form of an alphabet book, this exhibition does not aim to be a dictionary of all Mediterranean underwater species. It tries, through a necessarily subjective choice of words, to answer a simple question: « The Mediterranean, what does it mean to you? ».
From the blenny to small-scale fishing, from the white seabream to the saupe, including the posidonia seagrass beds, the richness of Mare Nostrum is immense. It is sometimes little known to the general public: flamboyantly colored nudibranchs that are so difficult to observe, symbiotic relationships between the creatures that inhabit the ecosystem, or mimetic animals that camouflage themselves…
The fragility of the Mediterranean is real, and the dangers it faces are multiple: pollution, climate change, and other human impacts on nature. But it has an astonishing capacity for resilience, it faces challenges and can regenerate as long as we remain vigilant and proactive in the right direction.
