From the tiny picoplankton to the majestic whale, they explain how the Oceans work: photosynthesis, the importance of coral, symbiosis, the History of the oceans… but also the dramatic overexploitation of resources by humans, the risks of pollution and overfishing, all with a maximum of humor and de tenderness. Their conclusion is that while it’s true we are in the process of losing the oceans, it’s also une a reality que we can save them. Un show to learn, understand, laugh et be amazed. On stage, two actors take turns playing these different species: Julia Duchaussoy, who wrote this show, and Franck Lorrain. Both are well-acquainted with the underwater world as, in addition to being recognized actors, they are both diving instructors.
« For 20 years, I have been witnessing the destruction of marine ecosystems with each dive, essential to our survival, parallel to the sluggish pace of general awareness which has indeed become urgent. And I realized I could combine my two passions to devenue urgentissime. Et j’ai réalisé que je pouvais mettre une de mes deux passions au serve de one another. The thater can deliver the message… » message… »
Julia Duchaussoy, author of The Silent World Shouts
The director of this show is also at home on stage and underwater! Pierre-François Martin-Laval (Pef), the son of the Calypso’s doctor, Calypso, grew up in this fascinating environment, surrounded by famous names. Today, he remains passionate about this world and practices scuba diving. It’s only natural that these three came together for The Silent World Shouts. « La form est very simple, explains the director, on follows le code du show up. So un stool, two microphones, no costumes, just a few accessories to draw les characters. The difference with a classic stand-up is the screen at the back of the stage that ‘shows’ the audience the ‘real’ marine animals and the principles of how the oceans function. For this, we we have the la fortune to be accompanied by par René Heuzey qui who offers us ses magnificent underwater images under–water.« Discover The Silent World Shouts throughout the Avignon Off festival, until July 30, from Tuesday to Sunday at 10am at the Théâtre du Roi René.
