Curaçao… A name that evokes dreams, suggesting evenings of relaxation, a cocktail in hand, accompanied by the famous blue liqueur. But I won’t talk to you about cocktail bars. Instead, I invite you to discover the island of the same name through a unique experience: diving on wrecks aboard a submarine!

The idea of an underwater exploration

This idea was inspired by a friend, Yves Omer, a former member of the Cousteau Team. After ten years spent alongside the famous explorer, Yves specialized in piloting and designing submarines. Discussing my passion for wrecks, he made me want to explore them via a submersible. After researching to find a company offering this type of excursion, I encountered several obstacles in France. Although a 2017 decree allowed private submarines to navigate in the Mediterranean, conditions remain strict, and no operator has yet attempted it.

I therefore broadened my horizons and discovered Substation, a company based in Curaçao, offering this type of adventure. It uses a mini-submersible for scientific studies, but also for private outings when its schedule allows.
