Although stereotypes persist, the world of Tek divers is actually a spectrum of individuals with diverse goals and motivations. After more than ten years of observation, I am able to draw stereotypical portraits of these practitioners. So, do you see yourself?

There is often a gap between reality and our personal perception. Sometimes it’s even amusing to see the divergence between what we believe we’re achieving and what we’re actually doing. Having an objective view of oneself is crucial to ensure progress and safety. Often, the diver we think we are does not match reality. Our motivations, sometimes unconscious, deserve reflection and analysis. That’s why we invite you to question yourself through this series of reflections, to better understand your practice, derive pleasure, and improve your safety.

Examples of perceptions :
What my mother thinks I do: diver in a shark cage
What society thinks I do: welding diver
What other divers think I do: diver with CCR, four tanks, and a scooter in the dark
What I actually do: diver pushing tanks in a cart
