World Festival of Underwater Image: Award-Winning Photos

At the conclusion of the World Festival of Underwater Image, it was the incredible photo by Thibault Rauby that won the Gold Diver award: in the blue of the Mediterranean Sea off Antibes, a small post-larval anglerfish (photo above). In the same category (photo paper), the Silver Diver went to Grégory Lecœur and the Bronze Diver to Giacomo Marchione.

Besides this photo, which also won the Reporter Hope prize – International Divers, the awards honored portfolios (series of 10 digital images) as well as thematic series (5 digital images) created by underwater photographers:

Films were also highlighted with several awards given for clips and short films (duration less than or equal to 26 minutes), as well as medium and feature films (duration greater than 26 minutes).Finally, in the category « the book and the sea, » it is the book « Polar Immersion » by Emmanuelle Périé-Bardout and Ghislain Bardout, published by Ulmer, that won the world’s underwater image book award. Onboard their polar sailboat, the Why, the authors explored for nearly two years the most inaccessible icy expanses… They dived to the greatest depths ever reached under the ice (-111 meters), and went to meet cetaceans, Greenland sharks, polar bears, but also local populations…
