On June 25 and 26, during the 8th French Depth Freediving Championships organized by FFESSM, freediver Abdelatif Alouach broke the world record in constant weight bi-fins.The double world vice-champion (without fins and bi-fins) and French champion descended to 115 meters during this event, thus breaking the previous record of -112 meters. During this 4’08 minute apnea, the athlete from Martigue demonstrated all his technique and ease underwater.

The French Championships took place in the Bay of Villefranche and were listed as an « Open International CMAS » with the presence of international judges and freedivers (Belgian, English, and Belarusian…). Among the disciplines presented during these open water championships, athletes could participate in constant weight with monofin, bi-fins, without fins, and free immersion.

.
Les world championships will be held this year in Kas, Turkey, in October. We must closely follow our French athletes’ immersions and certainly not miss Abdelatif Alouach’s performance, who has undoubtedly not finished astonishing us underwater!
