Often, during our dives, mangroves outline the edges of tropical reefs, yet we ignore them. What a mistake! Entering the secret world of mangroves is like discovering an enchanted setting. Imagine yourself in the heart of submerged forests, watching for the presence of trolls or elves behind each gnarled trunk and root embedded in the mud. However, there’s no magic here, just nature at its peak!

These astonishing underwater landscapes are shaped by mangroves, also known as medlar trees. These exceptional trees can live in seawater, a peculiarity that classifies them among halophytes. Few species can rival them in such a hostile environment. That’s why they thrive here, forming genuine green bastions that protect tropical coasts.
Access to these forests is arduous. From the land, the mud engulfs us, and the tangle of trunks, branches, and roots forms an impassable obstacle. Approaching by sea is therefore preferable. The relative weightlessness then facilitates « floating » between the foliage. Forget diving gear, too cumbersome and likely to snag everywhere. A simple mask and snorkel are enough, as exploration focuses between the surface and two meters deep. However, beware: the adventure is not recommended for claustrophobics and requires good freediving ability, as one can become trapped. Welcome to Wonderland!
