He reveals his journey, from opera sets to a surreal universe where divers, marine animals, and everyday scenes meet. A world where imagination and ocean conservation are closely tied.

From Fontainebleau to Honfleur: an irresistible attraction to the sea

How did your connection with the marine world begin?

« I am the painter of divers, but ironically, I don’t dive! Born in Fontainebleau, far from the sea, I had ear problems at a young age that prevent me from fully enjoying the underwater world. Yet, I’ve always been drawn to the sea. That’s why I settled in Normandy, in Honfleur, where I opened my gallery in my twenties. My motto? « Feet in the water and head in the sky and clouds ». Venice, with its unique architectural beauty, is my city of heart; despite its decline, it remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration and I return as often as possible. »
