Organized by the Manche Atlantique Diving Group (GMAP) and the French Federation of Underwater Studies and Sports (FFESSM), this competition will bring together 60 competitors from all over France in hopes of qualifying for the final to be held in Chartres on May 23 and 24, 2016.
Among the competitors, Vincent Mathieu, the reigning world runner-up in static apnea, will also be present in Brest.

Presentation of the events:– Static apnea: motionless, the apnea diver allows themselves to float at the surface of the water. By keeping their airways submerged, the athlete concentrates and attempts to hold their breath as long as possible. Before starting, each competitor provides the judges with an estimated apnea time.– Dynamic apnea with fins or monofin: during this event, the apnea diver must cover the longest distance while always keeping their body underwater. Many competitors use a monofin to complete this event. This allows for better fluidity and great sensations.– Dynamic apnea without fins: in this event, the competitor must cover the longest distance without fins. It is with a specific breaststroke technique that they will cover the longest distance possible, always underwater.– The 100 meters speed: speed apnea is an event in which the athlete must cover a fixed distance underwater in the shortest time possible. This final stage of the competition will test the competitors’ muscles extensively!
