A Paradise to Preserve

The Maldives, as a nation, depend on tourism for nearly a third of their GDP. In 2023, statistics from the Ministry of Tourism revealed that the islands had 168 resort hotels, 883 guest houses, 13 hotels, and 152 cruise ships in operation. Although paradise is not yet lost, it has become much busier than before. Travelers seeking solitude and serenity can escape by venturing far from the central atolls.

In the south of the archipelago, away from the usual circuits, Kolhumadulu, or Thaa Atoll, offers perfect isolation and the thrill of authentic underwater adventures. With only one resort on the atoll, the diving sites remain relatively unexplored and preserved.
