Greg Lecœur spent over a year exploring the Pelagos Sanctuary, a space dedicated to the preservation of marine mammals, to highlight its biodiversity. Beyond cetaceans, he captured the entire richness of the Mediterranean through his lens, sharing his experience with research teams. A true journey blending emotions, discoveries, science, and sharing.
A Return to the Source
After exploring the oceans around the world — from the Galapagos to Antarctica — Greg, originally from Nice, chose to focus on his native Mediterranean. A child rocked by the tales of the Calypso and fascinated by The Big Blue, he always had his eyes set on the horizon. His first inspirations came from the photographs of Yves Lefèvre. « Discovering his images of whales in Polynesia, I wished to be the one who took them, » he recalls.

His passion for the sea began during his freediving sessions, but it was only when entering professional life that he took up scuba diving. Quickly, he acquired a boat and set out to sea. These escapes allowed him to encounter dolphins and turtles. His life took a decisive turn when, in the early 2000s, he met a group of pilot whales off the coast of Nice. This experience inspired him to buy his first camera.
