On March 9 and 10, 2018, the 16th edition of Festisub, the underwater image festival in Neuchâtel, attracted nearly 1,600 spectators.

The annual Underwater Photographer of the Year competition recognized the best underwater photographers on Sunday, February 11 in the United Kingdom. Tobias Friedrich won the title of Photographer of the Year 2018 with a stunning panoramic photo captured in the wreck of the Thistlegorm in the Red Sea. Nearly 110 photos were highlighted during this competition. They were distributed across 11 categories, including three dedicated to British waters.

From November 24 to 26, the fourteenth edition of the « Beyond Water Images » festival was held in Chapelle Saint-Mesmin (Loiret). The photographers’ shots, both hopefuls and masters, were awarded in three categories: ambiance, macro, and biologically themed photography.

Eleven photographers from Auvergne, Rhône-Alpes, Burgundy, and Île-de-France participated in the 20th edition of the Freshwater Snapshots, on September 23 and 24 at Lake Annecy. The competition was hosted by the La Coulée Douce club of Sévrier.

From September 14 to 17, the 37th edition of the French Underwater Photography Championship took place in Marseille, notably supported by the YCPR (Yachting Club of Pointe Rouge). Despite unfavorable conditions, thanks to the Mistral, the candidates managed to stand out and present quality images to the jury.

The first weekend of September saw the eleventh underwater image challenge take place in Six-Fours (Var). Three categories of images were judged: ambiance photo, macro image, and a photo of fish.
